XP Processes

When you hit CTL ALT DEL and then click on "Processes"
how do you know what is required to run in the background
and what is not? I have a butt load of things running,
but there are several things I'm not sure of and don't
want to end it and then lock my computer up. Any help
would be nice. Thanks.

and their purpose and dependencies. It will help you decide which processes
you may want to stop.
