Volume control on system tray of taskbar no longer works -- when I set the
volume to 'mute', system sounds continue to be played.

Operating system: Windows Media Center
Sound Care: Juli@ Ch12

Try using Mute All.

To enable or disable sound
Under Volume Control, select the Mute all check box to disable sound.
Under Volume Control, clear the Mute all check box to enable sound.

Note
Some items in Volume Control contain a Select check box instead of the Mute
check box. Clear Select to turn off sound for those items.

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Gayle Ann,

See if one of these helps.

The CD-ROM Volume Control in the Multimedia Mixer Volume Controls Does Not
Change the Volume

You cannot control the volume to external devices that are playing digital
audio in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Some buttons on the Media Center remote control stop functioning after you
install the IntelliType software version 4.11 or earlier
