Is it possible to give a folder a name that is recognised and sorted as a
date ie 02/04/06. I know that the forward slash / is not allowed but could
anything else be used to overcome this problem? Naming folders 020406
instead doesn't work of course because it is recognised as just a number.

I'm running XP sp2 ntfs

there are dozens of alternatives:

02_04_06

02.04.06

02-04-06 etc...

And another alternative that will string-sort properly is yyyymmdd...

20060204 or
2006-02-04 etc.

Today DaleNrDudley commented courteously on the subject at

As I suggested in reply to your other post, try 2006-04-02.
