View Full Version : Location Information Problem

Hello;

I am using Outlook 2003 with Windows XP Pro with SP2. I simply want to use
my contacts as an address book to store address and phone number information.

When I pull up a contact and attempt to save a phone number, I get a window
titled "Location Information" and it will not go away. The Location
Information
window states "Before you can make any phone or modem connections, Windows
needs the following information about your currents location." This in
itself is
ridiculous, but then it then requires me to select the country/region I am
in now. Even if I wanted to, I cannot enter this required data since there
are no
selection to choose from and this window cannot be cancelled! To get rid of
the window I must end the task which shuts down Outlook. I am dazed,
confused,
and miffed. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well it needs to know so it can add or omit area and country codes (as well as choosing an outside line etc). You specify the country and regions. Look at Phone and Modem Options in Control Panel.

Control Panel > Phone and modem options is exactly what brings up the
"Location Information" window which is exactly the window that hoses me
because I can't enter any data and I can't get rid of this window. One
cannot "enter" data into the country/region box, one must "choose" from the
pull down menu. I have no choices in my pull down menu. When I try to cancel
this window (since I can do nothing with it), it asks if I'm sure I want to
cancel. I say yes (or no) and it takes me right back to the Location
Information window. Ending the Location Information task is my only way out
which also end the entire Outlook session.

I asked you to post a picture and I posted one in previous post. What do you mean you can't enter data. You said pull down menu but there is no pull down menu in my picture.
