I have a NEC Superscript 610plus laser printer. The NEC site says drivers
are not available for this model for XP. Is there any way around this?

Oops.. Link is something special..

Try this:

http://www.bhdist.co.uk/shop/pages/support-610-xp.htm

Superscript printer drivers for XP and 2000.

IT WON'T WORK!
Straight from the horses mouth--NEC

When Microsoft released Windows 2000, they discontinued the support for GDI
ports, which this printer requires to print, it's not a driver issue.

For this reason you will NOT be able to use this printer under Windows 2000
or Windows XP.

You would have to dedicate this printer to computers running Windows 3.1
through Windows ME.

Or you can set up the computer with dual boot, in which case you would have
to reboot the computer in Windows 98 (as an example) to print.

Or you can sell the printer to some one that does not intend to upgrade to
any of the NT Kernel operating systems and use the money towards a new
printer.

Wow - that was an annoyingly formatted message! Rich Text or HTML?! Ick!
heh - May want to post to newsgroups in Plain Text.

You won't be able to USE a Windows 2000 driver for the Printer - it doesn't
have one of those either.

When Microsoft released Windows 2000, they discontinued the support for GDI
ports, which this printer requires to print, it's not a driver issue.

Printer and Scanners seem to be the biggest victims of XP upgrade. Sometime
people have successfully used the Win2000 drivers in various degrees and
others have mentioned if you know the engine used in the printer you can use
a comparable driver. Otherwise you normally are out of luck.
