AVI file not playing in Media Player

Hello,

Im not sure if this is the right group, if it's not. Im sorry.
I have an avi file that when I try to open it, it tries to go to a
codec server and download something, and then Media Player says error
downloading coded and starts playing only the sound of the video.

Any ideas on how to fix this, or maybe a recomendation on another video
player I can use?

You need the correct codec.

Probably either DIVX or XVID.
