View Full Version : Can not print on LexmarkX83

I reinstalled a USB connection LexmarkX83 "all in one"printer and it printed
a test page fine. Then in attempting to update the driver I added a new
printer to the LPT 1 port by mistake in the Printer and Faxes folder.
Realizing I'd made a mistake I removed the other printer icon from the
Printer and Faxes folder. Now I can not communicate with the printer, it
doesn't print and the display on the printer reads "SYSTEM ERROR A04 V5.81.
The Device Manager shows a Lexmark
X83 MFP under Imaging devices and the other printer I thought I had removed
under Ports (Com & LPT) as "ECP Printer Port (LPT1). I don't know if having a
printer enabled on LPT1 is a normal configuration for a USB printer. Please
help to troubleshoot this error.

Disconnect the printer from the PC.

Uninstall it completely following Bruce Sanderson's instructions... (note
steps 15 through 17)
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

Download a new set of drivers from the Lexmark website at:
http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:95:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=568&searchLang=en&searchLang=en

Install the software and do not reconnect the printer until it tells you to
do so.

I unistalled completley following Bruce...instructions and re-istalled the
new driver yet it did not print.
The printer screen now reads "System Error A06 V5.81"
I also downloaded and unzipped the firmware "FW581WW.exe" to the printer
folder where the driver was installed.
I downloaded this firmware file from the Lexmark.com link.
Was this unnecessary?
In the mean time I am going to uninstall everything again.
Thanks anyway.
