hi all

well, ive had this old printer running before on xp pro sp2, so there must
be a way... the files will extract properly, it goes through the installation
process, then a small box appears saying "installing printer", then that box
disappears after a couple of seconds. when i check the control panel for
printers nothing is there, but there is an empty lexmark folder in program
files.

i cannot find the lexmark uninstall utility on their website, and i have
also tried the instructions as described in another X125 related post re
stopping/starting spooler services etc.

any ideas?

many thanks

Disconnect the printer from the PC and follow Bruce Sanderson's instructions
for removing all printer drivers... noting specifically steps 15 through 17.

http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

Download a new set of drivers from the Lexmark website at:
http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:346:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=533&searchLang=en&searchLang=en

Install the software and do not reconnect the printer until the software
tells you to do so.

sorry, but ive already seen this link. followed to the letter. xp recognizes
the orinter every time, but right at the end of driver installation a little
blue box comes up saying "installing printer" or words to that effect, that
box then disappears, im left with an empty lexmark folder in prof files, and
no printers in control panel.

are there any older x125 drivers i could try?

thanks

For that you'd have to ask Lexmark. They may or may not make their archived
drivers available. Some manufacturers do and some don't.
