My dial-up connection hangs when it reaches the stage
of "registering your computer on the network". I have
tried deleting and setting up a new connection, slowing
the modem speed, uninstalling and reinstalling my modem.
The connection used to work just fine.

Hi
Have you tried resetting TCP/IP to it's original settings? You can do =
this by type the following at a command prompt. It will not interfere =
with any of your network settings:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
You can re-name the .TXT file to anything you want.
