A duplicate name exists on the network

This started recently, but I'm not aware of having made any change. When
starting windows, I get "A duplicate name exists on the network". No matter
what I change my computer name and network to, I get this.

You need to check each/every PC, print server (???) and router (??) in order
to make sure that the names are not "repeated". The problem does not only
occur on the PC which first "pops out" this message.

Ahh...whaddaya know - I had a router where the wireless SSID was the same.
Never would have thought to check that :P

IMO, this is really a job for the local network administrator,
who might be able to track down the offending machine through
the MAC address or other tooks at hand. IIRC, this message only
appears when the same IP address or computer name is shared by
another computer.

And that fixed it ?

I'm a little surprised that a router/AP SSID would be considered a network
node in that way.

Any chance someone else was connected to the router that you didn't know
about ?

I have the same problem but i do not understand what i have to do to solve
the problem. can you explain with more detail?

System will show current interconnected PCs on the network

Also try

Shows current shares ( May not be PC, but Share name)

Change your computer to a unique name on your network.
