Still tweaking my PC reinstall and I was checking DMA / PIO mode for my
CD/DVD's. I noticed - under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, I see 2 primary
IDE channels ( each with primary/secondary device ) , 2 secondary
(ditto) and 2 Dual channel. When

I have dual channel IDE with 2 devices per channel for max of 4 devices
I checked Adv Settings for each of the primary and secondaries they each
have Device 0 and Dev 1.
Since I only have 2 channels with 2 devices each, ( 1 primary and 1
secondary) , why am I seeing :
2 primaries listed with 2 devices each = 4 and 2 secondaries with 2 each
= 4. I can only have 4 not 8 - what's going on ?

Bobb

PS I just moved my OE stuff to a common drive so can access it from
either OS - this is nice. I wrote this from new XP install and sending
from the old ( I rebooted to the old install to check dev mgr here too
before sending along)

Does your motherboard have SATA controllers? Some SATA controllers show up
like this.
