Since I have done the Windows update I can no longer right click, system
freezes.

Any ideas?

Right click causes an error and crashes Explorer.exe after installing
Windows XP SP2
http://www.winxptutor.com/sp2/divxcrash.htm

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm

Right-click is extremely slow only when Network is enabled
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/rcdelay.htm

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Adding to Wesley's suggestions:

See:

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install security
update MS06-015:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

Or, automate the steps in KB918165 using this REG file. Download
Q918165_HP_Fix.reg below and save to Desktop. Right-click the file and then
choose Merge. Restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

My goodness, Ramesh. Is there anything that MS06-015 has not screwed up?

Mostly the Verclsid.exe thing, Wes. It validates shell extensions (that
includes context menu handlers) before being loaded.

My question was a bit facetious, but 908531 seems to have offered plenty of
"opportunities".

Wes, There was a post titled "Additional issues with MS06-015 that are not
documented under KB918165" in the Security newsgroup (private) which you'd
like to see. I've not test it yet.
