Hi all!

I have two pcs both with FileTargets, a very usefull shell extension. The
new one simply doesn't show it anymore. I uninstalled it and reinstalled as
administrator. There's no error, the program is there, I can configure it
but it simply doesn't show up in right click. I spent my sleeping hours
trying to figure out what is different from one pc to another and found
nothing. Its driving me crazy, I can't think of anything else. I even looked
in the registry and all the right entries seems to be there. Looking for any
other application like that I found nothing. Please help. Thanks in advance,
Nana

Hii, go to http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html this application will
help you trouble shoot why the item in context menu is not displayed.

Hi, Thota

I downloaded the utility you suggest and it shows the file target extension
as enable. I disable it, reboot the pc and reenable it, no luck. I'm at a
loss down here. This is so weird, looks like something is blocking it, I
can't figure it out. This is so annoying, there's no error messages!
Anyway, thanks for your attention.

Maybe you suffer the side effects of this issue

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install

That's it, Bob! I unistalled the update in questiion and voilá! file target
is there. Let me ask one more thing: The windows update keeps asking me to
download the same update again. Can I simply choose not to install it or do
I have to choose between this and to have file targets? In other words, will
I have a problem if I ignore this update for good?
Thanks for you attention. thanks a lot!

Either fix it, especially if you are running HP software see line 383 (right
hand side):http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm or list it here as
being installed: Start/Run/Regedit-
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uni nstall

Better to fix the underlying issue, the uninstall merely postpones the
inevitable.

Hi, Kelly

I'm not using any HP product, my printer is Lexmark. Is there anything else
I can do to fix this? I unninstaled the update but windows keeps asking me
to download it again. I'm too used to FileTargets to loose it. Thanks for
your attention,
Nana
