This sounds like Symantec AV yes ?, if so they have an "uninstaller"
on their web site, 'course it doesn't get rid of everything, you may
want to search the registry for the leftover crud after running it.
You will be amazed at what is actually left in there, but please back
up before editing the registry, or leave it well alone if you aren't
familiar with it.

.. . . and when finished, fix your clock. You're posting 24 hours in the
future.

Not to mention they are starting a new thread with the same problem rather
than responding to the one they started a little over 6 hours ago.

David, go back to the thread you already started on this issue and continue
there, do not start a new thread.

Often helps if you say what the old anti-virus program is.

Sorry folks... I was tired and frustrated last night.
The antivirus I am having trouble uninstalling is Computer Associates and
the one I am trying to install is Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security
2006.

I guess CA may have an uninstaller on their site?

Thanks for any further thoughts.

If you used sh!tmantec or McCrappy (both commonly do that when removed),
you'll need to download their removal utilities (not sure if McCrappy has
one) and remove appropriately. Otherwise you may need to do some registry
surgery and file cleaning in safe mode,...

I am trying to install a new antivirus/firewall program. I uninstalled all
of the elements of my old virus/fw program. When my new program stated that
it would not install until the old one was removed, I discovered there is
still .50KB of the old program left, somehow. I proceed with uninstalling
and it goes through the process... and then remains there even after
restarting the computer.
Please help me, anyone...
