View Full Version : Opening files. Defaults to "List"

Many applications, particularly graphics applications
enable files to be opened. When this is done a window
is presented, but the default open method is always "List".

This irritates me a bit because I would like the
file open window to default to "details".

I'd really appreciate advice on how to change this
so that when opening files, it always defaults to
'details'

Sid.

If you're talking about the Open / Save As dialogs, then the view style
can't be changed. It always displays items in List view, and when viewing My
Pictures, the view style will be thumbnails. (Thanks to David Candy for this
info).
