I have a Plexwriter 40/12/40a. Recently, everytime I start my PC up it won't
load windows and just hangs for ages. When it does eventually start up, the
curser has the little CD rom symbol next to it signaling that it is trying to
read a CD rom disc, but there is no disc in the drive. if I open the drawer
of the Plexwriter the pc then acts nomally but I cannont close the drawer.
(the drive just dies). I have to use the PC with the drawer permanently open.
It closes if I switch the PC off.
If I uninstall the Plexwriter then everything acts normally. The drawer
opens and closes as it should, so it must be a software problem. When I
restart my PC then windows 'Recognises new hardware' and reloads the Drive
and the same problem starts all over.

Any help from you guys would be appreciated.

You have what is technically refferred to as a "bad" drive.
With these so called "bad" drives you usually go to the manufacturer of
said "bad" drive and ask for a replacement if it still under warranty.

Or replace the "bad" drive with what is called a "new" and hopefully "good"
drive frome a diffrent manufacturer.

It's not a software problem, the drive is defective, replace it.
