Try the following:

Click Start, Run and type the following:

CMD /K SC CONFIG SPOOLER DEPEND= RPCSS

Restart. Try installing again.

Now it's telling me: "Print driver was not installed. The specified print
monitor is unknown."

Sorry. Not enough information to provide a targeted answer.

Was any software or software update installed between the time the
printer(s) worked and did not? (This includes anything MS or other
auto-update service might have done.)

What, if anything, did you do between the time you got the other message
and the message you received now?

If you did what I suggested:
Remove all printer drivers. Check the printer maker's (makers') web sites
for utilities to remove their drivers or utilities to "clean up" after
driver removal.

After removing the drivers, do a repair insrtall of Windows. Next, visit
windows update ot microsoft update and install all system updates. Then,
install printers (one at a time, rebooting after each).

If you want to let us know Windows version, service pack level, printers
used, source of printer drivers, someone might be able to provide a
better-directed fix.

Do check:

Tom,
I had the exact problem. I cut and pasted your instructions and now the
problem has been resolved.
Thanks a million for giving me back my printer and my sanity.
