View Full Version : Can't share Lexmark printer on XP with WinME system

I have a Lexmark x5150 printer on an XP SP2 system that I successfully share
with several other XP systems. I also have one old WinME system that I would
like to print via the network to the Lexmark. When I try to print I get an
error on the ME system: "Communication Not Available".

I saw some notes on this from Alan Morris from 2004
(http://www.mcse.ms/archive63-2004-9-952849.html) that indicated that
changing some XP DCOM settings might work- I tried that but it had no effect.

Is there a patch for this problem, or am I out-of-luck trying to get this
Lexmark shared to the WinME? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

One other note- I also have a b&w Samsung laser printer on the XP machine and
the WinMe system can print to that one just fine.

I do not think that Lexmark ever got the drivers working properly in this
configuration.
