CAN NOT UPDATE WINDOWS XP

I have been attempting to update my Windows XP not only
through the control panel, but directly accessing the
Windows XP Update web page. Although I do have windows
XP, I ma receiving the following message and can not go
any further:

"Thank you for your interest in Windows Update

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that
helps you get the most out of your computer.

You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system
in order to use Windows Update."
