my windows movie maker keeps crashing

I have Windows Movie Maker 2.1 and everytime I open it, an error box pops up
saying the Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Does anybody know how I can fix this

You maybe running other software that maybe in conflict?
The obvious ones will be in the system tray (where clock is)
These Icons indicate running applications.
Ensure you are OFFline.
Place your cursor on each Icon and RIGHT click each in turn
You will receive a menu with options to Disable/Close/etc
Note: Your AV and Firewall will be listed here, so before
disabling, I stress you must be OFFline.
Once you have disabled these obvious running applications,
try opening WMM, if all it OK, then that confirms it was a conflict.
You will have to do a process of elimination to identify which
of those obvious running apps is the cause.
Once Identified:
Visit the apps website, and download any patches/updates etc
Also run Windows Update, and choose "Optional" updates.

If none of the "obvious" running applications in system tray
were causing a conflict, post back and we'll show you how
to run msconfig.
