saving to and from disc problems

We are having problems copying to the computer from a data disc we have created and then saving to the disc once the file has been amended.

It seems that somewhere in the process of saving the file to disc the file becomes read only and or the disc becomes write protected whihc then fails to allow us to amend the file and re-save. When we try to re-save after chaging the files properties from read only we get an error message saying either the dsic is full or write protected and will not allow us to save more than 1 file to a disc.

We have been using a laptop to try and write these files and the desktop as a means to print the article once completed.

The laptop is where we find the problem with write protection and automatic saving as read only.

Any ideas how we stop the automatic saving as read only and the write protection issue?

I use Incd on the desktop but it has not yet been put on the laptop, does this make a difference?

Also now with Incd the last disc we loaded onto the desktop has now had an Incd warning saying that for protection the disc has been made write protected, how do i now remove that write protection put on by INcd?



Laptop specs are: Toshiba Satellite, intel celeron, windows xp. Cd-rw dvd-r

Desktop: NEC powermate series, pentium 4, dvd/cd-rw, windows xp

sorry no idea what else i should include.

OK Zoe, lets just clear the obvious stuff first.
You say it is a data disk?
a) What type of file are you talking about? Assuming
as this is the video group, that you are creating a
"data back-up" of a video file?
b) Assuming the actual disk has been "finalized"?
Then you cannot copy further data to that disk.
If it is DVD-/+RW (rewritable) you can format
that disk, and then re-write your "new" data to it.
c) If it is a DVD-/+R disk, then it is "write once",
and NO further burning to that specific disk once
it is finalized. You will need to use a new disk.
d) It is not clear from your post what amending
you are doing to the file that you copy from the disk?
And if you are having problems amending/editing?
Or just copying to disk the amended/edited file?
