Hi Jonathan,
I have, what I believe is, an anomaly in the interaction between Windows
Messenger and Outlook Express.
Should there not be an entry in Outlook Express/Tools/Options/General to
disallow the starting of Windows Messenger. I do believe that at one time it
was there. Now when I look I see an empty space under the three available
choices in the uppermost group of choices. Windows Messenger is always
starting when I open Outlook Express, even though I am signed into MSN
Messenger.
Additionally, I am using Messenger Plus (latest version - without sponsor
add-on) if that makes a difference.
Also, help/about tells me that I have version 6.00.2900.2180
(xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803.-2158) of Outlook Express. Do you know if this is the
latest version, and could it be the cause of my problem?
Thanks in advance for your insight on this.

Hey Richard,
Yes, there's a set of circumstances where this actually disappears (not relating to Plus or
OE version). I admit I've completely forgotten what exactly those circumstances are, no doubt
it'll hit me later today or something.
However, all OE/Messenger interactions should be countered using the "Hide Messenger" reg key
(http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/stopmessenger_oe.reg). The key is not setable in
the UI, but it's all inclusive and will the fix the problem in all situations regardless if
this checkbox is appearing or not (the checkbox sets a different key).
