When I brought you computer (programs pre-installed) I
thought that I was getting Mircosoft Word as my
processor, but I got Mircosoft Works instead. My friend
gave me her unused Windows 95 software that should
contain Mircosoft Word as the processor. What I want to
know is can that software be used to install Microsoft
Word onto my computer?
My old documents that I saved to disk are in Word and I
cannot access them from Works.

Yes you can generally run older versions of MS Word on XP. An alternative to
purchasing MS Word or an MS Office suite is to install the free OpenOffice
Suite http://www.openoffice.org/product/ . This is a large download of 50MB
and is an exceptional set of applications. No spyware or nags at all. It can
open and save Microsoft Word documents

If Works came on your new computer and this is Works Suite, by the way, the
computer doesn't come from Microsoft, it should include Word. Assuming you
purchased a new computer.Word is one of the Works components.

Yes. You can install Microsoft Word 95, 97, 2000, or XP under
Windows XP.

I thought that Microsoft Word did have the full version on Word as the only
full application from the Office Suite.
