After running Win XP Home Edition for several months I've
begun to experience VERY slow app launches. Outlook, IE,
Word, and most other apps sometimes seem to take up to 20
seconds to launch, even on a freshly booted system.
Sometimes apps will fail to respond for a while after
they are launched and then will recover. Sometimes the
whole system seems to slow to the point where I can't
even start Task Manager. I have a gigabyte of RAM on the
system and have watched memory consumption and the system
always has at least 75% of its memory available. Haven't
noticed any memory leaks. I've monitored CPU utilization
during an application slowdown and nothing seems to be
consuming any cycles to speak of. Any thoughts or advice
greatly appreciated!
