Hi all,
I am currently running Windows 95 (yep very out of date!)
and would like to know if it is possible to upgrade
directly from Windows 95 to Windows XP. If this is not
possible, what should I be doing?
thanks
Phil

You can not upgrade from 95 to XP. Actually, if this is 95 era hardware, the
hardware won't support XP unless you've been modifying the hardware rather
significantly over the years.
Unless you build your own hardware your best bet is to simply buy a new
machine with XP installed and transfer your data.

A Win95 installation cannot be upgraded to XP. You would need to perform
a "clean install." The booklet that comes with the XP CD doesn't have
much in it but it does describe the basics of a clean install. There is
also a document on the XP CD that has further setup information.
Unless your Win95 CD is a very specialized OEM "restore" or "recovery"
CD that does not show the standard CAB files folder when you view its
contents, it will satisfy XP setup's qualifying check for a previous
version of Windows.
