Win XP Pro_I am trying to install Internet Info services on my desktop pc.
Was no problem on my laptop_win xp pro_OEM CD. My desktop was upgraded using
my Win xp pro upg CD. It asks for files and cannot find them. Both laptop an
desktop were upgraded with downloaded SP1a . Why will my desktop not let me
install IIS? First it asks for Win XP Service Pack 1 CD? The laptop didn't
..it all went fine. Now it says some files on the Windows XP Professional
Service Pack 1 CD are needed. What is this crap? As I stated ,both the
laptop and the desktop were upgraded with the very same downloaded Service
Pack 1a file? God, this is frustrating.

You can try this as it might work. First download SP1 from here
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/4/f/54f8bcf8-bb4d-4613-8ee7-db69d01735ed/xpsp1a_en_x86.exe
That's the full download package. If you already have the full package it
then skip the download and use it instead
Use Winzip (www.winzip.com) to Extract the SP1 download to a folder on your
root drive. For example to C:\XPSP1 (or something similar)
Create a System Restore Point as you are about to modify the registry. If
you don't know how to create a System Restore Point go to Start->Help and
Support->Pick a task->click System Restore and follow the wizard.
Go to Start->Run and type REGEDIT to open the registry editor.
Expand the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Setup
In the right hand pane double click "ServicePackSourcePath" key and modify
the value to c:\xpsp1
You might have to reboot. You shouldn't be prompted for an SP1 CD anymore.
