Desktop and open documents folder

When my friend boots up her PC [Win.XP]she briefly sees
the desktop then it automatically opens uo the documents
folder!!! Very strange, I'm sure it's something simple
wrong but I'm too simple to think how to cure it.Any ideas
please? Thanks

Go to Start>Run type: Regedit

Using Regedit, change the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENT VERSION\WINLOGON
Change USERINIT from
C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,c:\windows\system 32\userinit.exe to
C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,
