msconfig.exe is infected with w32.spybot.worm. My software
cannot repair or quarantine the
windows/system32/msconfig.exe file. Is there a way to
repair or replace this file without doing a whole Windows
XP reinstall? My OS cd is 1.5 yrs old. If I have to do
reinstall, will it overwrite and correct msconfig.exe?
What about all the newest XP updates? Thank you for
considering to send an answer.

This worm disables NAV, Msconfig, Regedit and Task Manager:
http://www.bitdefender.com/bd/site/virusinfo.php?menu_id=1&v_id=114

And this one:

Rename regedit.exe to regedit.com then:

Download then Merge the edit on line 251 then delete all the files mentioned
in the above link. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
