Restore failure

Whilst restoring my computer, I had encountered a power
failure halfway through the process. After restarting,
when the log on screen appeared I began to write my
password but as soon as I touch a key, my system freezes.
I have tried the "F8" system restore on start-up, but
again the system froze when trying to log on. After
reviewing an article in the support centre, I have tried
to use the "safe mode with command prompt" but again my
system froze when trying to type "%systemroot%/....etc"
phrase. Could someone please help as I have some important
documents that I need to restore. Any help is greatly
appreciated.
