View Full Version : Undoing the effect of the Accessibility Wizard

I have a friend who has poor vision.

I have been testing out the Accessibility options on my Dell.

I have set a High Contrast option using Start/Control Panel/ Accessibility
Options/Display tab.

I can alternate between that and the standard display using key
combinations.

Stupidly I decided also to use the Accessibility Wizard. I have chosen a
high contrast display but now I can't undo that setting.

Can anybody help?

Uncheck High Contrast option using Start/Control Panel/ Accessibility
Options/Display tab.

Yes, I know that but separately I have activated the Accessibility Wizard,
so that now when I uncheck as you describe the effect is that I have the
contrasty effect imposed by the Accessibility Wizard.

They work independently of each other, it seems.

I have run the Accessibility Wizard. There are not any options within that
that produce a no contrast display.

Do I have to reinstally Windows XP?

My support from Dell is only free for Hardware problems.

Have you run the Wizard again but removed all the options?

Yes.

I wrote to Illinois Center for Instructional Technology Accessibility is
http://cita.rehab.uiuc.edu/ for assistance.

My contact responded:

"1. You need to go to the "Display Options" dialog box (right
click on desktop or through selecting the "Conrol Panel" in the "Start
menu", then select appearance and themes).

2. Choose the "Appearance" tab in "Display Options" dialog box.

3. Use the "Color Scheme" combo box to change the color scheme from high
contrast to something else."

This has reverted the Desktop to Standard Windows XP.

I haven't yet managed to revert to the previous font size - but I am sure
that this is only a matter of time.

Much thanks to the Illinois Centre.
