"Four-fifths of spam now emanates from computers contaminated with Trojan
horse infections, according to a study by network management firm Sandvine
out this week. Trojans and worms with backdoor components such as Migmaf
and SoBig have turned infected Windows PCs into drones in vast networks of
compromised zombie PCs.

Sandvine reckons junk mails created and routed by "spam Trojans" are
clogging ISP mail servers, forcing unplanned network upgrades and stoking
antagonism between large and small ISPs."

Your analogy is completely wrong. It's like blaming auto makers for traffic
jams.

The reason that most of the spam comes from windows based computers is
because there are a lot of people out there who barely know more than how to
turn the computer on and hit the AOL button. They do not know anything
about basic computer security and think that if they use the worthless tools
provided them by AOL they are safe.

You cannot blame Microsoft on this one. In all fairness, there are similar
but fewer risks with *nix.

Windows ships on over 90% of the computers sold.

Many of the people who buy these computers do not have a clue on how to
protect them.

Those that do no protect their computers are the threat, not Microsoft.

These same people would be a threat no matter what OS they are using.

Since the vast majority of compromised machines with Trojan infections
are Windows computers, there is an easy solution to this problem
AND it would make Microsoft look better than Mother Teresa to the world!

Next month's Microsoft bug patches just includes a little hardware dongle
firewall that goes between XP and the DSL modem, blocks all these infections,
AND Windows simply refuses to run unless the firewall dongle is in place.

It is the 23rd of the month and so far I've received and reported to abuse
addresses over 700 of the Trojan Pump-N-Dump stock spam gif this month.

Swen Virus, claiming to be Microsoft fixes, 57018 received and reported
to abuse addresses around the world, 3493 received from tiscali.it alone!

(Yes my abuse cannon is almost completely automated and I just watch to
make sure it doesn't make any mistakes as it sends off the abuse reports)

LOL! So in effect, you are an automated abuse-reporting spammer.
