I want to transfer the OE6 email files from my notebook to my desktop
computer. Both computers have XP Home with OE6.
I have tried transferring my notebook email files to a CD and then to a
folder on my desktop and then tried importing the .dbx files in that folder
to my desktop OE6 without success.
Using the desktop OE6, I clicked on File, Import, Messages, selected OE6 and
then "Import from an OE6 folder" and navigated to the folder where the .dbx
files were stored.
I get a message that no .dbx files were found in the folder I navigated to.
Are there any rules about the names of files being imported agree with
folders existing in the OE6 importing the files?
I would appreciate help with this problem.
Thanks,
Planorez

No need for export/import.

With OE closed, find your store folder & copy it wherever you like...then on
the destination computer, you can set up an identity, and then in tools |
options | maintenance | store folder, point it at the new location. For the
address book, it's a little more complicated, but it's a wab file...

Slightly OT, but I don't use the default profile paths for most data
storage...I would use

c:\data (for My Documents)
c:\data\OE (for Outlook Express)
c:\data\outlook (for Outlook)

....ad nauseum.

Note that OE questions are best directed to OE
groups....microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie 6_outlookexpress is meant
for OE6 questions. However, www.insideoe.com might be the best place to
start.

You must remove the Read Only attribute.
Highlight all of the dbx files, Properties, uncheck Read Only.
Files coming from a CD are Read Only.

Thanks for your help. I established another identity and was able to put my
transferred notebook files under it.
