Hi,

How can I get the Windows XP backup program to compress files, like I used
to be able to do when running Windows 98?

Sincerely,

I can't find where it does compression. It's a basic "free-be" type of
backup tool, so we have to temper our expectations.

Until I buy another (or configure automatic compressed backups via my
Linux server which I haven't yet done)... To minimize disk space I've
set it to make full backups (only of data) every 21 days, and
incremental backups every other day (onto another machine). I haven't
tried, but perhaps by copying the backup files to a compressed folder
the effect you may wish to achieve is the same. Give it a shot.
