Hello ...

I'm using Windows XP.

When I first set up this computer, a little over a month
ago, I configured it to notify me when Updates are
available.

For a while, this worked fine -- I received notification
of available Updates.

However, for perhaps the past two or three weeks -- I'm
not sure -- I haven't received any notifications.

I check my selections in Control Panel/System/Automatic
Updates, and it is check to receive notifications.

Might anyone know why I am not receiving the
notifications?

Many thanks.

Go to Windows Update site to see if there are any updates for your system.
If there are then manually download them a
few at a time. Then go here to repair the automatic update feature.

The MSBlast worm replaces the updates notification with itself. Perhaps you
are infected.

The worm can only get into machines that are not firewalled. Check the
properties of your connection to be sure the firewall is enabled. If it is
not you will catch other worms and viruses.

Update your anti-virus definition file and then run a scan to see if it can
repair the infected entries in your registry.

Thanks for this information.

I went to the URL, but I'm a bit confused as to which
part of it applies to my specific problem. Could you
point me in the right direction?

Oh ... and I did do a virus check about the Blaster
Work. It didn't show that I had it. I am using Norton
Anti-Virus.

Also, I had previously installed the Microsoft Patch
applying to the Blaster.

Any help or information would be most appreciated!

Linda,

There haven't been any updates for my Windows XP Pro since July 23.

That may explain why you have not received any notifications.
