I'm trying to figure out how to use my laptop as a dvd player. I have an
s-video cable and a compatible tv. How do I get the image I see on the
laptop to appear on the tv? I'm using a new Dell latitude d610 w/windows xp
pro.

You will need to activate the S-Video output option.
Usually this is performed via graphics card properties,
also via an entry in control panel, in some cases you
may also have to change the output/resolution settings,
If so, this usually results in you only having image on
selected display - not both laptop and TV..
Not possible to guide you further as no details supplied
of your laptops graphics adapter?
I suggest you visit Dell's site, click the support option,
locate your laptop and read up on it's capabilities.
