I have a new Compaq EVO D310 P4, .99GB RAM, with WinXP
Pro (incl SP1) installed. The calc.exe file is acting
buggy for me. I use it many times a day.
1) At first it worked fine,
2) Then it started to allow only mouse clicks on the
numbers - no entry of numbers from the keyboard (either
old style or number pad) but the problem only occured
after I had used it more than a few times that day.
3) Now it won't allow anything but mouse clicks at all.

Note that numlock is not on. This is not just a problem
with my shortcut to calc - it happens even if I go
straight to windows/system32/calc.exe to start the
program. It does not happen with the calc.exe located
elsewhere which I can access through a Citrix client I
spend a lot of time in, but that calc is not at all
convenient to access. The problem occurs whether or not I
have previously been in the Citrix accessed calc earlier
in the day. I do shutdown the computer overnight.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there an updated
version of calc.exe that I can download?

To use the keyboard or the number pad (with NumLock engaged) to enter
numbers, the focus must be on the calculator window. Is it possible the
focus is drifting away from that window?

There are several mouse settings I can think of that might cause this.
Folder Options> General> Single Click uses point to select. If the mouse
cursor drifts over a program window or icon, you've lost the focus on
the calculator window.

X-Mouse settings in TweakUI - similar to above. Focus follows the mouse
cursor with no extra clicking involved.

Mouse in Control Panel: Various drivers have different settings
controlling the cursor. Look for things such as "snap to" that would
allow the cursor placement to change the main focus on the desktop and
disable them.
