I'm using MSN 7.5 and have had no problems until yesterday, then I noticed
that all the display pictures of my contacts had changed to the default MSN
ones and I could not see any of their custom emoticons either. However, my
contacts can see my DP, emoticons w/o any problem.
I checked my 'options' and the 'show display pictures from others' was
ticked still as were all other references to emoticons.
I ended up uninstalling MSN 7.5 and searched for all files and folders and
deleted them all. I then downloaded a new version of 7.5, installed it, same
problem still happening (also recently, i've tried windows live messenger
beta).
I noticed that some of my previous settings which should have been deleted
with the uninstallation had returned suggesting that there may have been a
hidden folder or file that I had missed but I have no idea where.

Hey...
Do you use ZoneLabs Security Suite on your computer?

Cool! I didn't know they had a message board. I will try to find it.
Yeah... this other friend of mine has ZL on his computer, just like me,
and was having the same problem. We shutdown ZL, and restarted MSN
Msgr, and were able to see everything just fine. So it's no doubt.
If you find anything, post it on here. I will do the same.
Thanks!

You can access the forum through technical support on ZoneLabs website.
Goodnews, you're right it's about ZASS or IMsecure. Badnews, although it
seems a number of us suffering the same problem on ZASS v.6.5.xxx.xxx,
there's no cure so far. Now I'm switching back to v.6.1.xxx.xxx and hope
ZoneLabs would do something soon.
