Frame Size changes

When i import video to Movie Maker the frame size changes.

My original file has a 512x256 size
when i import the video it changes to 320x240

i`ve edited my video but i need the size to stay the same as the original
otherwise my images are distorted. How do i get the final product back to
512x256?

i've been fiddling and i found something called the "aspect ratio" in
Tools>Options>Advanced

the default was a ratio of 4:3 but there was a second option 16:9 which is
almost exactly what i needed.

Just out of curiosity... can the video be sized to any ratio or only these
pre-set options???
