On my "C" drive, Windows, opening Windows the first 30
some odd folders are highlighted in blue and are listed as
follows....
" $Ntuninstall " followed by letter/number combinations
which appear to be files. A subfile under each
$Ntuninstall folder is listed as "spuninst" As an
example the first folder reads....$NtuninstallKB823559$
and a subfolder is "spuninst". Opening either displays
several files on the right hand page.
What can I do to return things to normal. Do I delete
all files and use the reinstallation CD that came with the
computer ?

Hi Bill,
Those folders are the result of installing files from Windows Update. The
Qxxxxxx number refers to the update. They are there in case you wish to
uninstall any particular update (Control Panel/Add & Remove).
If you do not wish to uninstall any update, simply delete the uninstall
folder. Then go to Add & Remove and select that update for removal. You will
get an error message, followed by an option to remove that hotfix from the
listings.

Bill
Do nothing. Leave them alone.
Blue indicates 'compressed'. This is done automatically for
$NTUninstall. . . folders of files needed to uninstall related
hotfixes, and for the RPnn folders for restore points in System Volume
