I support 30 desktop computers for my company. I have a
new Dell one which has never played system sounds. It
will play CD's. I went all through the Troubleshooter
and checked EVERYTHING - Dell even came out and replaced
the motherboard. When you go into the Control Panel and
go to Sounds, you can't play any system sounds, the
little triangle is grey. (It is black and works on other
computers.) Any help?

Didn't Dell test this before leaving?

Try this, go to Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel, click Advanced,
be sure Mute isn't checked and that the volume slider is up at about 2/3 the
distance to the top.

If all is fine, you might check to see if there are updated drivers
available from the soundcard manufacturer's web site or look into
reinstalling the current drivers for the sound card.
