Installer Hangs

[Don]

Recently I have been unable to install any of the XP
automatic updates. They apparently download ok but then
the installer hangs. The task Manager indicates that it
is running but there is virtually zero CPU usage. I have
let it go for a couple of hours but it does nothing; the
installer is apparently hung. I even tried a repair of
the OS but... Any suggestions?
