o stop this goto your control panel, goto Admin
Tools>>Services>>Scroll down to "Messenger" double click
on it, and select "Disable" instead of Auto. This will
fix it for u

btw, everyone make sure u try searching

You could try searching for the other half of the solution. THE OP NEEDS
TO INSTALL A FIREWALL.

Some firewalls have a popup stopping feature, I believe Zone Alarm has that
feature. However, unless it has that specific function, it won't in and of
itself stop popups.

The messenger popups we are talking about happen because the NETBIOS
ports are open - a firewall stops that!

Yes, that's true. I should have expanded the comment. Unless you were
really familiar with what was being said in this thread, a novice reading it
might then think a firewall would stop popups on the Internet at web sites
and possibly ask why his firewall isn't working. I should have clarified, I
apologize.
