I am importing avi files to split into smaller segments for eventually
encoding into flash videos. When I save the file, I chose the "other" option
and pick DV-AVI. The saved files end up being substantually larger than the
AVI file that I imported. I am trying to figue out if there is a way to
adjust the size of the AVI export. Can find one looking through the commands.

Your original files seems to be a compressed AVI (either DIVX or XVID)....
you are saving as DV-AVI which is the largest format available and (almost)
uncompressed.

If you want to save as DIVX or XVID, then use a third party editor,
something like Cyberlink's PowerDirector v5.
