I know this is insane but I'm trying to download a 100 MB movie file through a dial up connection. The download time is about 10 hours but it's a one time only thing. The problem is, the download completes without downloading the entire file. To start it up, I right click on the download link and select "Save target as" Then a dialogue box comes up, asks me to choose a save location and file name and then a status box appears and the download starts. And then after downloading part of the file, it's like the download lets go. For example, one time the download got to about 60 MB of 100 MB downloaded and then the status box changed from downloading to "Download complete" (smile. no, I didn't sit there and watch the status box for six hours. I'm not that crazy. I started it up and came back later) And the file was only 60 percent downloaded but acted like it was finished. It was like something let go. It was like the computer said "Well, that's 60 percent of it. That good enough. Done." Anyone know what's going on?

Maybe the connection is timing out...
Try using a download manager...this
allows you to resume where you left off.
Here's an example:
Free Download Manager LeechGet 2006
http://www.leechget.net/en/
I'm not currently using this app because
I have cable and I wrote the following
instructions for the 2004 version. Maybe
They will help you use the 2006 version .
After installing...you open the program and
click the "Parse Website" button on the toolbar.
On the next screen you enter the URL to
the site you wish to download from and
click the "Parse" button.
This will create a list of all the downloadable
elements on the site. From the list you select
up tp 8 files and click the download button.
Also (on the main screen) you might want to
go to...Extras / Options / Directories (this is
found by scrolling down in the left pane)
Now you can specify a Download Folder.
Good luck...

Thank you John, that was very helpful and this was the first and last time I'm going to try to download a behemoth file like that through a dialup connection. If anyone is making a web site or making a file available for download, please remember not everyone is blessed with a high speed connection.
Thanks again John. You're cool.
