Boot from you CD. But this time choose to reinstall XP. Then when you
accept the license agreement, you will be faced with 2 choices, to install a
new copy or to repair an existing installation. Choose to repair the
existing installation.
A word of advice, to prevent any problems. Once the computer reboots the
first time after starting the install, DO NOT hit any key to boot from CD.
