Videos are always dark on WMP 10

For some reason videos are always dark when played with WMP 10 on one WinXP
Pro SP2 machine. They appear at normal brightness when played with other
players - Real, QuickTime, or PowerDVD, where playable. WMP 10 on other
machines I use play all videos with normal brightness too.

Adjusting the video settings within WMP works fine but the setting does not
hold.

I checked this machine with other monitors, including a TV, to eliminate
that likely cause.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
