Hello-
Up until a couple of weeks ago, my son and I were able to play Doom in
640x480 at 256 colors with no problems (yes, I still love the legacy
programs). My monitor's normal mode is 1024x768 at 32M colors and 75 Hz
refresh rate. This has not been a problem up to this point in running
Doom.
I know this sounds wierd, but immediately after installing the Windows
update (Genuine Advantage Notification) and rebooting, I switch to Doom
and the screen is slewed to the left about 1/5 of the way, and I notice
that the refresh rate is now 60 Hz (of course), which I apparently
cannot adjust. Just for fun, I momentarily went to my normal 1024x768
setting and set the refresh rate to 60 Hz with the same results as the
640x480.
I checked all of my previous settings and nothing has changed.
Before I give up altogether and chalk it up to "progress" has anyone
any thoughts about how to remedy this (short of starting from scratch
with a new XP install)?
Thanks.
