XP Service pack 1 - Modem problems

After installing Service Pack 1 from Microsoft, my dial-up
modem is connecting at 115 Kb. & then disconnecting a few
minutes later. Before the installation, it was usually 52
Kb. I've tried lowering the baud rate, deleteing the the
MSN / Luscent icon in connections, then re-installing it.

is there any problem about connecting at a higher speed??
