How do we delete the system.sav file and the pardition D:
that was created when my son upgraded to Windows XP Pro?
We can't find it listed in remove programs or any where
else.
Not going to need to go back to W98 and he wants to
reclaim the disk space.

If he performed a dual boot of Win98 and WinXP with two separate
partitions then check here.

Just remember that you have to keep the C: Partition with five important
files on it. They are ntldr, boot.ini, bootsect.dos, ntdetect.com and
cmldr. You can delete everything else pertaining to Win98. To see these
files you have
to go to Win Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>View Uncheck both Hide
protected Operating System files and
Hide Extensions for known file types also click on Show hidden files and
folders. Then you have to Edit the Boot.ini
file and remove the line C:\=Microsoft Windows . Also, change timeout from
30 to 1. Here's what mine looks like
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(5)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(5)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows"
