The below error is evident on a cold start, if the
computer is restarted the problem is gone.
PROBLEM. Everyday the computer is first started, it hangs
on the xp startup logo indefinately. When i push the on
button on the computer there is a quick flash of the blue
screen the computer shuts off and restarts properly. This
is the transcript of the blue screen.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
*** STOP: 0x000000d1 (00000028, 0x00000002, 0x00000000,
0xf84f2663)
*** ACPI.sys - Address f84f2663 base at f84e8000,
datestamp 3b7d8550

I have seen similar messages on the site but none state
these particular numbers exactly and none refer to a
startup problem. If anyone can offer any assistance i
would be most grateful. I have a reasonable degree of
understanding. Thanking you in advance.

(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article.)
The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL
that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that
uses improper addresses). It can also be caused by caused by faulty or
mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile
